Austrian nursing and care award
The Austrian Nursing and Care Prize is an Austrian award for the social commitment of family carers , volunteers , carers for young people and companies . Since 2014 this award has been named after Luise Renner , the first president of Volkshilfe Österreich , Luise .
The price
The prize was donated in 2008 by Volkshilfe Austria and the care magazine Pflegeetz . It serves to honor commitment in the care and support of old, sick and disabled people. The award ceremony takes place once a year as part of the Austrian Nursing Congress.
Only support services, relief offers and initiatives that have been implemented as well as individual commitment are awarded. Theoretical concepts are not considered.
The prize is awarded in 3 categories:
- Category 1: Caring relatives: The award is given to people who take care of the elderly, sick and disabled people in their own four walls. Each submission helps to publicize the commitment of caring relatives and to appreciate it accordingly.
- Category 2: Companies: The award is given to companies that employ their employees, e.g. B. relieve the burden of caring for relatives with more flexible working hours or provide other support options.
- Category 3: Volunteers: The award is given to committed people who volunteer, for example, to offer visiting services or neighborhood help in the form of shopping or accompaniment.
In 2013 a special prize for young people caring was awarded for the first time, and in 2014 there was also a special prize from the jury.
Since 2014 this award has been named after the first President Luise Renner Luise . The statuette which is awarded to the award winners was designed by the artist Manfred Wakolbinger .

In 2014, the jury's special award went to those people who were described in the book I am who I was - living with dementia .
