Manfred Wakolbinger

Manfred Wakolbinger (born November 6, 1952 in Mitterkirchen im Machland , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian visual artist .

Life

Wakolbinger attended the technical school for metalworking and tool making in Steyr . After graduating in 1972, he worked as an industrial fitter in Berlin. In 1975 he moved to Vienna. Here he began to make jewelry designs with his future wife Anna Heindl (marriage 1979). At the same time he attended seminars with Bazon Brock at the University of Applied Arts .

In 1980 he started working on sculptures as an autodidact. From 1989 he created photo works, from 1995 he also dealt with underwater photography. In 1992 he received the City of Vienna Prize for Fine Arts . In 1993 Wakolbinger created the permanent collection for design and architecture at the MAK Vienna.

His works have been exhibited at the Museum Küppersmühle (2006), the Museum of Applied Arts (Vienna) (2003) and the Lentos Art Museum Linz (1999) , among others . Solo exhibition 1997 in the 20erHaus ( Museum Moderner Kunst , Vienna) and numerous works in public space (Vienna, Krems-Stein, Linz, Graz 2003, Salzburg)
