Wenche Øyen

Wenche Øyen (born July 28, 1946 in Bærum ) is a Norwegian painter and illustrator .

Training and artistic work

Wenche Øyen graduated from Statens håndverks- og kunstindustriskole from 1963 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1971 the State Art Academy .

She started as an illustrator for the children's magazine Maurtua in 1975 and has illustrated numerous books since then. These include the award-winning children's book A Good Day from 1979 with texts by Einar Økland and the 1986 work Abschied von Rune with texts by Marit Kaldhol . She is dedicated to landscape and portrait painting . Her works are often kept in a simplistic style. She creates oil paintings and watercolors .

Awards

  • 1979 Prize for children's and youth literature from the Norwegian Ministry of Culture in the “Picture Book” category for Ein god dag , together with Einar Økland
  • 1983 Nynorsk barnelitteraturpris (Neunorwegischer Kinderliteraturpris) for Regnbogane , together with Olav H. Hauge
  • 1988 German Youth Literature Prize for parting with Rune , together with Marit Kaldhol
