Ülker Radziwill (born June 10, 1966 in Fethiye , Turkey ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a directly elected member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2001 .

Life

Radziwill has lived in Berlin since 1973, where she attended elementary and secondary schools until she graduated from high school. After training as a tourism business administrator , she was initially a few years with its own travel agency independently , and later as a travel agency manager.

Radziwill is married. In 1994 Radziwill joined the SPD . Radziwill was chairwoman of the SPD state working group on migration and a member of the SPD state committee from 2004 to 2012, the latter has been again since 2018. In addition, Radziwill is a member of the Workers' Welfare Association and a member of the Association of Turkish Social Democrats in Berlin . Radziwill is part of the SPD left and has been a member of the federal board of the Forum Democratic Left 21 ( DL 21 ) since 2011, and has been its deputy chairwoman since 2017.

Berlin House of Representatives

Radziwill has been a directly elected member of the Berlin House of Representatives (MdA) in the electoral district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf 3 since the 15th electoral term (2001–2006) . She has been a member of the Committee on Integration, Labor and Social Affairs and the Committee on Building and Housing since the 16th electoral term (2006–2011).

As one of the first German social politicians, Radziwill pointed out the problem of steadily rising rents back in 2008 and called for the possibilities for rent increases to be limited.

In the 17th electoral term (2011–2016) she was able to return to the Berlin House of Representatives as a directly elected member. In the 17th electoral term she was the chairman of the SPD in the 2nd parliamentary committee of inquiry to "clarify the causes, consequences and responsibility for the cost and deadline overruns in the renovation of the State Opera Unter den Linden ", the so-called State Opera committee of inquiry.

In the 18th electoral term, she once again succeeded in entering the Berlin House of Representatives as directly elected MP. Radziwill chairs the Committee on Urban Development and Housing for the 18th legislature; Deputy Chairwoman of the SPD parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives and spokeswoman for social affairs, senior citizens and care as well as spokeswoman for the committee for civic engagement / participation. Radziwill is also a member of the Council of Elders in the Berlin House of Representatives.

Federal Assembly

Radziwill was sent on June 30, 2010 by the Berlin House of Representatives as a member of the 14th Federal Assembly and took part in the election of the Federal President .

She was also a member of the 16th Federal Assembly on February 12, 2017 .

Bundestag candidacy

In the 2013 federal election , Radziwill ran for the direct mandate in the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf , but was defeated by the CDU candidate , Klaus-Dieter Gröhler . Since she did not appear on the state list, she stayed in the Berlin House of Representatives.

Radziwill competed with the former Berlin Secretary of State for Culture, Tim Renner, for the party-internal nomination for the direct mandate in the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf for the federal election on September 24, 2017. Renner prevailed internally on March 17, 2017.
