Þóra Björg Helgadóttir (born May 5, 1981 ) is an Icelandic football player . The goalkeeper is under contract with the Swedish club LdB FC Malmö and plays for the Icelandic national team .

Þóra played in the 2001 season for Breiðablik Kópavogur for the first time in the first Icelandic league and won the championship with their team. In the seasons 2002 and 2003 Þóra was active for KR Reykjavík and was able to win the championship again in both years. After she played for the Norwegian club Kolbotn IL in the 2004 season, she returned to Breiðablik for the 2005 and 2006 seasons and was able to win the championship and cup double for the first time in 2005 . After half a year with the Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven , she played for the Swedish club LdB FC Malmö in 2007 and then moved to RSC Anderlecht . In the 2009 season Þóra played again for Kolbotn IL and returned to Malmö for the 2010 season.

She made her debut for the Icelandic national team on May 10, 1998 in a game against the USA . She took part in the 2009 European Championships . So far, Þóra has played 94 times for Iceland. Þóra Björg Helgadóttir is the younger sister of Ásthildur Helgadóttir , who was the team captain of the Icelandic selection for many years.

In 2012 she was voted the best goalkeeper in Sweden.

On March 7, 2014, she made her 100th international match as the third Icelander in a 2-1 win at the 2014 Algarve Cup .
