The steam locomotive series kkStB 660 was a freight train - and passenger - Tender Locomotive series of kkStB , originally from the StEG came.

The StEG started several tests on 1C locomotives around 1900, which should be suitable for both freight and passenger train service. The three-cylinder - compound machines 38.51-60 were 1,905 of their own locomotive factory of StEG delivered.

After the First World War , the series was assigned to the ČSD as  344.2 (8 pieces) and the BBÖ (2 pieces). The BBÖ decommissioned their machines in 1927. With the exception of the 344.207, which was retired in 1926, ČSD converted them into  344.1 and 344.3 . The machines remained in use in this form until the 1960s.
