The vehicles of the ČSD series EM 411.0 were electric multiple units of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD) for the railway line Rybník – Lipno nad Vltavou .

history

At the beginning of the 1950s, the vehicles used on the Rybník – Lipno nad Vltavou railway, which was electrified at the time with 1200 volts direct current, were outdated and no longer up-to-date. In 1950, ČSD therefore ordered electrical equipment from Škoda for two four-axle railcars, which were to be created from two existing diesel railcars of the ČSD series M 150.0 . The ČSD series M 150.0 were former vehicles of the Deutsche Reichsbahn that had remained on Czechoslovak territory as a result of the Second World War. In the DR they had the numbers 137 347 to 137 396.

The renovation was carried out in 1954 by the repair shop in České Velenice . Instead of the drive system with a diesel engine and hydraulic gearbox, the vehicles were equipped with electrical equipment with traction motors, as was also used in the railcars of the ČSD series EMU 49.0 of the Electric Tatra Railway . Externally, the railcars were only changed at the driver's cabs, giving them a very striking appearance. The passenger compartment and the luggage compartment remained in their original state. EM 411.001 came to Vyšší Brod in May 1954 , the EM 411.002, which had been modified in detail, followed in September 1955.

The vehicles proved themselves in use. Until the commissioning of new locomotives of the ČSD series E 426.0, they handled all travel traffic on the route. They were retired in 1973 and scrapped shortly afterwards.

technical features

The vehicle had four axles like the ČSD series M 150.0 . Its car body had been redesigned compared to the previous vehicle. The sliding doors and the interior fittings still provide evidence of the origin of the DR 137 347 ... 396 . The bogies had been heavily modified by the conversion to the electric drive. The gear ratio pinion / large wheel of the drive axle was 1: 4.43.

The electrical equipment was chosen based on the EM 410.0 series railcar . The output was the same as this car and was 164 kW continuous output and 220 kW hourly output. The control of the vehicle was carried out as a resistance control.
