The ČSD class E 669.2 (from 1988: class 182 ) is a six-axle electric freight locomotive of the former Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD for the 3 kV direct current system in the north and east of the former Czechoslovakia . It was developed as a further development of the predecessor series E 669.1 .

history

After two series of the six-axle freight locomotive E 669.1 had been delivered, there was still a need for this six-axle locomotive for heavy freight train service. Therefore, the mentioned E 669.2 were developed and delivered to the Czechoslovak State Railways ČSD 1963-1965 .

The locomotives had the same area of application as the previous series. It was taken over by both railway administrations, ČD and ZSSK , and impressed from the start with its enormous pulling power and its quiet track position in front of heavy trains.

For the most part, their services have now been taken over by modern four-axle locomotives due to the decline in freight traffic. A few locomotives are still operational. Two machines are operational museum locomotives; the 182.002 at the ČD and the 182.133 at the ZSSK .

182 053 is used in regular service by Advanced World Transport ; it was painted in the company's corporate design .

technical features

The locomotives are box locomotives with driver's cabs at both ends and a centrally closed engine room in between. The box of the locomotives is welded with steel plates. In contrast to the previous design, the ascent to the driver's cab is accessible from both sides.

The locomotive body is the same as that of the previous design, with the exception of small details (e.g. the shape of the air slots in the sloping roof is different). In contrast to the E 669.1, the bogies have a smaller wheelbase in order to have less wear on routes with narrow curved tracks. Otherwise they also correspond to the previous design.

The locomotive is also regulated by a resistance control, only here the control was done more finely via 42 speed steps. The traction drive motors are designed as pawl bearing drive motors and are switched in three excitation forms; 1st series (6 traction motors in series, U = 500 V), 2nd series parallel 1 (2 sets with 3 traction motors each in series, U = 1 kV) and 3rd series parallel 2 (3 sets with 2 motors in series, U = 1.5 kV). The locomotives are equipped with anti-skid protection and a safety driving circuit .
