İlhan Aran

İlhan Aran (* 1935 in İzmit , Kocaeli Province ) is a former Turkish rear admiral who was the chief commander of the coast guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) between 1984 and 1986 .

Life

After attending school, Aran completed an officer training course at the Naval School ( Deniz Harp Okulu ), which he graduated in 1955. He then found use as a naval officer on various ships and command posts in the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri ). After graduating from the Naval Academy ( Deniz Harp Akademisi ) he was in command of the coastal minesweeper TCG Seddülbahir (M-260) from 1967 to 1969 and then from 1970 to 1971 in command of the patrol boat TCG Sultanhisar (P-111) . He then served between 15 May 1971 and August 1971 for a short time as commander of the 16th TCG Akhisar and from 1971 to 1973 as commander of the Fletcher Class - Destroyer TCG Izmir (D 341) , the following on February 1, 1973 except Service was provided.

After an assignment from 1974 to 1976 as an intelligence officer at the headquarters of the Allied Forces of NATO in southern Europe AFSOUTH ( Allied Forces Southern Europe ), he was Commodore III between 1976 and 1978. After his promotion to Flotilla Admiral ( Tuğamiral ) on August 30, 1980, Aran was from 1980 to 1981 first commander of the naval units in the Mediterranean stationed in Mersin ( Akdeniz Bölge Komutanlığı ) and then as successor to Flotilla Admiral Mustafa Turunçoğlu between 1981 and 1983 commander of the naval school, marriage he was from 1983 to 1984 commander of the naval units in the Aegean Sea ( Ege Deniz Bölge Komutanlığı ).

On August 30, 1984, Aran was promoted to Rear Admiral. On August 24, 1982, he had already taken over the post of Supreme Commander of the Coast Guard ( Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) as the successor to Rear Admiral Mustafa Turunçoğlu and kept it until he was replaced by Rear Admiral Çetin Ersarı on August 13, 1986. He himself was there between 1986 and 1987 commander of the naval units in the Bosporus ( İstanbul Boğaz Komutanlığı ) at the naval base Anadolu Kavağı and from 1987 to 1988 commander of the speedboat squadron ( Hücumbot Filosu Komutanlığı ). Aran retired early on August 30, 1988 at the age of 53.

Aran, who is married to Gülten Aran and has two children, speaks English as well as Turkish .
