Çetin Ersarı

Çetin Ersarı (* 1936 in Istanbul ) is a former Turkish vice admiral who was, among other things, commander-in-chief of the coast guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) between 1986 and 1988 .

Life

After attending school, Ersarı completed an officer training course at the Naval School ( Deniz Harp Okulu ), which he graduated in 1957. Subsequently, he was used as a naval officer on various ships and command units of the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri ) most recently from 1967 to 1969 as an operational planning officer in NATO - Command of the Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe COMNAVSOUTH ( Commander Naval Forces Southern Europe ) in Malta . After attending the Naval Academy ( Deniz Harp Akademisi ) in 1971, he was 1972-1973 planning officer in the Operations Department of the High Command of the Navy and then from 1973 to 1974 commander of the Fletcher Class - Destroyer TCG İstanbul (D 340) .

Ersarı then served between 1974 and 1976 as a naval adjutant and then from 1976 to 1980 as an adjutant to President Fahri Korutürk . After being in command of the III. Submarine flotilla ( III Denizaltı Filotillası ), he served from 1981 to 1982 as Chief of Staff of the Warship Squadron ( Harp Filosu Komutanlığı ).

On August 30, 1982 Ersarı was promoted to Flotilla Admiral ( Tuğamiral ) and was then Deputy Chief of Staff Navy in the General Staff of Turkey between 1982 and 1983 and then between March 31 and August 15, 1983 head of the intelligence department in the General Staff. He then served from 1983 to 1985 as head of the planning department in the High Command of the Navy and between 1985 and 1986 as Commander of the Regional Command Mediterranean ( Akdeniz Bölge Komutanlığı ) in Mersin . Ersarı succeeded Rear Admiral İlhan Aran as Supreme Commander of the Coast Guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) on August 13, 1986 and was promoted to Rear Admiral ( Tümamiral ) on August 30, 1986 . On August 12, 1988 Rear Admiral Aydan Erol took over the position as commander in chief of the Coast Guard, while he was instead from 1988 until his replacement by Rear Admiral Salim Dervişoğlu in 1990 commodore of the warship squadron ( Harp Filosu Komutanlığı ).

After being promoted to Vice Admiral ( Koramiral ) on August 30, 1990, Ersarı took over the post of Commander of the Naval Training Command ( Deniz Eğitim Komutanlığı ) between 1990 and 1992 , before he was last from 1992 until his retirement on August 30, 1994 Naval Command South ( Güney Deniz Saha Komutanlığı ) in Izmir , which includes the amphibious vehicle associations in Foça , the Izmir maintenance and engineering command, the Mediterranean regional command and the naval bases İskenderun and Aksaz.

Ersarı, who is married to Mine Ersarı and has two children, speaks English as well as Turkish .
