Aydan Erol

Aydan Erol (* 1940 in Kütahya , Kütahya Province ) is a former Turkish Vice Admiral , who was, among other things, Supreme Commander of the Coast Guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) between 1986 and 1988 .

Life

Erol joined the sea cadet institute ( Deniz Lisesi ) in 1954 and, after visiting, completed an officer training at the naval school ( Deniz Harp Okulu ), which he graduated in 1959 as a lieutenant at sea ( Asteğmen ). Subsequently, he found employment as a naval officer on various ships as well as command posts of the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri ) such as section chief, first officer and commanding officer of ships. In 1970 he attended the Naval Academy ( Deniz Harp Akademisi ) and then the Armed Forces Academy ( Silahlı Kuvetler Akademisi ). He was then first officer and commander of a destroyer and then between 1977 and 1979 naval attaché at the embassy in the USA .

After his return, Erol was head of section from 1979 to 1982 and most recently head of the operations training subdivision of the operations department in the Navy High Command and then between 1982 and 1984 Commodore of the II Destroyer Flotilla ( 2. Muhrip Filotillası Komodorluğu ).

On August 30, 1984 Erol was promoted to Flotilla Admiral ( Tuğamiral ) and then between 1984 and 1987 head of the planning and organization subdivision in the Operations Staff Department in the High Command of the Navy, before he was commander of the landing craft formations ( Çıkarma Filosu Komutanlığı ) from 1987 to 1988 . On August 12, 1988 he succeeded Rear Admiral Çetin Ersarı as Commander in Chief of the Coast Guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) and received his promotion to Rear Admiral ( Tümamiral ) on August 30, 1988 . Successor as the chief commander of the coast guard was on August 13, 1990 Rear Admiral Ekmel Totrakan . He himself was then, as the successor to Rear Admiral Salim Dervişoğlu, between 1990 and 1991 commander of the Schnellbootgeschwader ( Hücumbot Filosu Komutanlığı ). He then succeeded Rear Admiral Salim Dervişoğlu again in 1991, this time from 1991 to 1992 as a commodore of the warship squadron ( Harp Filosu Komutanlığı ).

Most recently Erol was promoted to Vice Admiral ( Koramiral ) on August 30, 1992 and Deputy Secretary General of the National Security Council ( Millî Güvenlik Kurulu ), where he also replaced Vice Admiral Salim Dervişoğlu in this post. He was then the successor of Vice Admiral İlhami Erdil from 1993 until his replacement by Vice Admiral Bülent Alpkaya on August 30, 1994 Commander of the Naval Training Command ( Deniz Eğitim Komutanlığı ). He then took over on 30 August 1994 the succession of Vice Admiral Çetin Ersari as commander of the Naval Command South ( Güney Deniz Saha Komutanlığı ) in Izmir when the amphibious vehicle associations in Foca , the maintenance and engineering command Izmir, the regional command Mediterranean and naval bases İskenderun and Aksaz belong. He then acted as Chief of Staff of the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri Kurmay Başkanı ) between 1995 and 1997 . Most recently, as the successor to Vice Admiral İlhami Erdil, from August 30, 1997 until his retirement in 1998, he was Commander-in-Chief of the Northern Naval Regional Command ( Kuzey Deniz Saha Komutanlığı ) in Istanbul , which is responsible for the Marmara Sea , Black Sea , Bosporus and Dardanelles , among other things .

Aydan Erol, who is married to Sibel Erol and has two sons, speaks English as well as Turkish .
