Order decoration
1st Class
The order decoration is a gold-plated Maltese cross made of silver with stylized linden leaves and bundles of rays between its angles. Its size is 65 mm. The golden, embossed head of Ľudovít Štúr is set in a red central medallion . A hanging device is attached to the upper cross arm, which in a square of four linden leaves reflect the symbol of the Slavic community. Two swords crossed diagonally are placed in its hollow space. The corresponding shoulder strap is worn from the right shoulder to the left hip and shows the Slovak national colors light blue-blue-red. The corresponding breast star has a diameter of 90 mm, is also gold and shows the order decoration in a slightly modified way. It consists of five even rays, the intermediate pieces of which are closed and covered with linden leaves. The medallion in the middle shows the namesake of the order on a red base and a blue ring with the inscription: NASPÄT CESTA NEMOZNÁ NAPRED SA IS MUSI . (The way back ....) In addition, three double crosses were integrated on the breast star. The reverse of the breast star shows the embossed coat of arms of Slovakia in the middle medallion as well as the inscription: SLOVENSKÁ REPUBLIKA (Slovak Republic) and a vertically attached needle with a locking hook. The corresponding 18 mm wide ribbon buckle shows the ribbon colors in a horizontal representation and also the 10 mm diameter gold miniature of the medallion piece.
2nd Class
The second class of the order is similar to the first class, but has a diameter of 60 mm and is worn as a collar medal. A breast star, which has a diameter of 75 mm and shimmers in a slightly bronze tone, also belongs to the second class. The corresponding 18 mm wide strap buckle is of the same quality, but shows the silver 10 mm miniature of the medallion with the patron's name.
3rd grade
The III. Class, also made of gold-plated silver, is designed as a necklace order. It has a diameter of 60 mm and no longer has a breast star. It also shows the order decoration, which is worn on a light blue-blue-red collar. The corresponding 18 mm wide strap buckle shows the golden miniature of the order decoration in the middle. The peculiarity of the III. Great is that there is also a civil order decoration, which instead of the swords shows a golden linden leaf wreath in which a white enamelled double cross is embedded.
