Ōkubo Haruno

Danshaku Ōkubo Haruno ( Japanese 大 久保 春 野 ; born October 8, 1846 in Shizuoka , Japan ; † January 26, 1915 , Japanese Empire ) was a general in the Imperial Japanese Army .

Life

Ōkubo fought on the side of the imperial troops from 1868 to 1869 during the Boshin War in the course of the Meiji Restoration . He then attended a military academy in Osaka , after which he traveled to France to take part in further studies. In 1902 Ōkubo was promoted to lieutenant general and commander of the 6th division .

During the Russo-Japanese War he commanded the 6th Division, which was initially assigned to the 3rd Army . In July 1904, his division was subordinated to the 2nd Army and participated in the battles of Liaoyang and the Shao . In January 1905 another regrouping to the 4th Army followed . The division subsequently took part in the Battle of Mukden .

In 1907 he was appointed Danshaku (baron) according to the Japanese nobility system of Kazoku . In 1910 he was promoted to general. He was then commander in chief of the Chosen Army for a year . He then retired.

Ōkubo died on January 26, 1915.
