Tadamori Ōshima ( Japanese 大 島 理 森 , Ōshima Tadamori ; born September 6, 1946 in Hachinohe , Aomori Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician, a member of the Shūgiin , the lower house, and vice chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Within the party, he has been leading the Ōshima faction , the former Kōmura faction , since 2012 . Since April 21, 2015 he is the president of the Shūgiin .

Ōshima worked after his studies at the Keiō University for the Mainichi Shimbun . From 1975 he was a member of the Aomori Prefectural Parliament for five years. After a failed candidacy in 1980, he has been a member of the Shūgiin since 1983 , initially for the 1st constituency of Aomori (4 seats), then after the electoral reform of 1994 in the single constituency of Aomori 3.

In 1995, Ōshima became minister in the Murayama cabinet as head of the environmental agency for the first time (until 1996). Under Prime Minister Yoshirō Mori , he was Minister of Education and Head of Science and Technology from July to December 2000 and under Jun'ichirō Koizumi from 2002 to 2003, when he resigned after a political scandal, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries . In the LDP he was, among other things, deputy general secretary and several times chairman of the Aomori prefectural association, before moving up to the inner circle of the party leadership as chairman of the committee for parliamentary affairs from 2000 to 2002 and again from 2007 to 2009. After the LDP's defeat in the Shūgiin election in 2009 , the new party chairman Sadakazu Tanigaki appointed him LDP general secretary, and in September 2010 he was deputy chairman ( fuku-sōsai ), who was last occupied in 2003. 2012 was under the party chairman Shinzō Abe (Machimura faction) Masahiko Kōmura, his successor, shortly thereafter Ōshima took over the faction chairmanship of Kōmura.

On April 21, 2015, Ōshima took over the office of President of Shūgiin after his predecessor Nobutaka Machimura resigned.
