Řeči, řeči, řeči… ( Eng . Talking, talking, talking…) is a Czechoslovak animated short film by Michaela Pavlátová from 1991.

action

In a café, all seats are taken and the guests communicate with each other, whereby the words transform into bubbles of different sizes, shapes and colors and sometimes develop a life of their own. The chatter of two women turns a mosquito into an elephant, which then wanders through the ear canals of some guests, only to be brought back to the size of a mouse in a conversation between two men. A man tries to wrap a woman up with words, but is disturbed by the waiter.

The waiter has fallen in love with a reading woman who is ensnared by another man. Their views complement each other figuratively like dominoes and even a complicated puzzle slowly becomes a complete whole through their mutual words - the last puzzle piece of the joint views does not fit, however, and there is a dispute between the two until the man leaves. It is the waiter whose loving word closes the puzzle, but the woman only takes the now complete puzzle and hurries after the other man. What remains is an empty café.

Awards (selection)

At the 1991 Montréal World Film Festival , the film won the Animated Film Grand Prix. At the Anima Mundi Animation Festival in 1999 he received the audience award.

Řeči, řeči, řeči… was nominated in 1993 for an Oscar in the category “ Best Animated Short Film ”, but could not prevail against Mona Lisa Descending a Staircase .
