Şaban Özel (born May 1, 1988 in Sakarya ) is a Turkish football player who currently plays for Şanlıurfaspor .
Player career
society
Özel learned to play football in his hometown Sakarya at Sakaryaspor . In the season 2008/09 he rose to the professional team and completed seven league games for the professionals. After his team missed relegation at the end of the season, Özel remained loyal to his club. In the TFF 2nd Lig he immediately fought his way to a regular place and in the 2010/11 season reached the championship with his team and thus promotion to the TFF 1st Lig .
Since Sakaryaspor got a transfer ban imposed by the Turkish Football Association for the following season, they had to start in the second division with the existing squad and their own youth players. So Özel came regularly to appearances in the 2011/12 season . At the end of the season they missed relegation.
In June 2012, his contract with Sakaryaspor expired and so he moved to Sivasspor for a transfer fee of around € 1.46 million . With Sivasspor he took part in the pre-season camp, but was then loaned to the second division team Samsunspor for one season. In the spring of 2013, his loan contract was converted into a regular move to Samsunspor.
For the 2014/15 season he was hired by the second division side Adana Demirspor and after one season moved to the league rivals Şanlıurfaspor .
National team
Özel was in June 2011 for the first time for the second selection of the Turkish national team and made his international debut on June 1, 2011 in a 3-0 win against the second selection of Lebanon .
