Saip Jusuf
Šaip Jusuf ( Cyrillic Шаип Јусуф ; * around 1933 - † January 29, 2010 ) was a Yugoslav author, translator and association official.
Life
He belonged to the Roma ethnic group and studied at the University of Belgrade to become a sports teacher. He lived in Skopje . From Islam he converted to Hinduism , which he regarded as the religion of his ancestors. He was one of the organizers of the first World Conference of Roma, which took place in London in 1971 , and was a leading member of the Yugoslav national association of the International Romani Union .
He wrote a textbook of Southeast European Romani and, together with Krume Kepeski , a grammar of this language, the manuscript of which was completed in 1973, but which was only published by Naša Kniga in Skopje in 1980 in an edition of 3000 copies .
