Crumb Kepeski

Krume Kepeski (in Cyrillic script Круме Кепески; born April 8, 1909 in Prilep , † November 3, 1988 in Skopje ) was a Yugoslav linguist .

Life

Kepeski graduated from Belgrade University in 1935 with a degree in philology . He was the author of the first book on the grammar of the Macedonian language , first published in 1946. Later he was a professor at the Skopje Pedagogical Academy . He translated literary works from Russian and from several South Slavic languages into Macedonian. In 1980, together with Šaip Jusuf , he published the first grammar of Romani spoken by Roma in Yugoslavia .

A primary school in Skopje is named after Krume Kepeski.
