Šime Đodan

Šime Đodan (born December 27, 1927 in Rodaljice , † October 2, 2007 in Dubrovnik ) was a Croatian lawyer and parliamentarian .

Career

Đodan graduated from the University of Zagreb with a degree in law in 1960 . In 1965 he received his doctorate in economics. From 1967 to 1971 he headed Matica hrvatska . During the Croatian Spring , he was sentenced to six years in prison for Croatian nationalism. He also published several economics books.

Political activity

As a member of the HDZ, Đodan was a member of the Croatian Parliament from 1991 to 1995, and in 1991 he was Minister of Defense. His political activity was characterized by various controversial statements. The most famous of his utterances was a racist remark about Serbs, who he believed had smaller brains and pointed heads.

Đodan died after a long illness at the age of 79 in a hospital in Dubrovnik. He was buried there on October 5, 2007.
