The Štadión na Sihoti (full name: Mestský futbalový štadión na Sihoti ) is a football stadium in the Slovak city of Trenčín . It is located directly below the Trenčín Castle and is the municipal venue for the FK AS Trenčín football club . The name Sihoť goes back to the second largest settlement in Trenčín, which is located in the Sever ( German  north ) district.

history

The stadium was built in the 1960s and originally had a capacity of 18,000, but due to legal restrictions in Slovakia, only the main grandstand is used today. The stadium is owned by the city. The playing field is 105 m long and 68 m wide. The illuminance of the floodlights is 1,100 lux . The Trenčín stadium was one of four venues for the 2000 European Under-21 Football Championship . In the summer of 2011, around 300,000 euros were invested to enable the newly promoted FK AS Trenčín to participate in the first Slovakian league . The city has offered the club to give him the stadium after the new building.

In November 2014, the construction machines moved to demolish three of the four tiers. The renovation will then take place in two phases. The covered main grandstand in the west will remain until the end of the year. In this way, game operations can be maintained during the renovation. Three new grandstands will be built, which after the later construction of the main grandstand will turn the spacious sports facility with back-gate curves into a pure football stadium. After the renovation, the stadium will offer 10,500 seats. Overall, the budget for the construction work is to amount to 6.3 million euros, of which FK AS Trenčín will take over 3.9 million euros. The rest is financed by the Slovak state through a stadium development project. The city does not contribute to the costs. The association and the city still have to agree on the purchase price for the building land before construction begins.
