Żerków ( German Zerkow , 1943–1945 Bergstadt (Kr. Jarotschin) , medieval Sirkowe ) is a town in the Powiat Jarociński of the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with around 10,250 inhabitants.
history
The city of Zerkow was founded before 1400. As a result of the second division of Poland , Zerkow fell to Prussia in 1793 and belonged to the province of Posen from 1815 to 1920 . In 1905 Zerkow had 1631 inhabitants.
Through the Treaty of Versailles , Zerkow came to Poland in 1920 .

Żerków has a train station on the Jarocin – Gniezno railway line, which is only used for freight .
