Željko Šturanović (born January 31, 1960 in Nikšić , † June 30, 2014 in Villejuif , France ) was a Montenegrin politician. From November 10, 2006 to February 5, 2008 he was Prime Minister of the Republic of Montenegro .

Šturanović graduated from Titograd University in 1983 with a law degree . He then worked in the legal department of the Željezara company in Nikšić . From 1993 to 2001 he was a deputy in the Chamber of Citizens of the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia for the Democratic Party of Socialists . In April 2001 he was elected to the Parliament of Montenegro as a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists. On July 2, 2001, Šturanović was appointed Minister of Justice of Montenegro.

Željko Šturanović was a member of the Presidium of the Democratic Party of Socialists and head of the Cadre Commission. He was proposed at the presidium meeting of his party on October 4, 2006 as the successor to the no longer candidate Prime Minister Milo Đukanović . Šturanović was considered a compromise candidate and also enjoyed a certain reputation among the opposition. His wife is related to the former Union President Svetozar Marović . At the beginning of 2007 it became known that Željko Šturanović had a tumor in his lungs and was therefore in poor health. However, he initially continued to perform his official duties. However, on February 5, 2008, he announced his resignation. He explained this by saying that the therapeutic measures he had to undergo did not allow him to remain in office.
