The Șieu ( German Schogen ; Hungarian Sajó ) is a left tributary of the Someșul Mare (Great Somesch) in the north of Romania .
The Șieu rises in the Călimani Mountains (Munții Călimani) east of Șieuț . It flows through the Bistrița-Năsăud district in a wide valley in a north-westerly direction. At Sărățel it takes its most important and at the same time richer tributary, the Bistrița (Bistritz), from the right. Further downstream, the Lechinţa meets the Șieu from the left. To the east of Beclean , the schließlichieu finally flows into the Someșul Mare on the left. The Șieu has a length of 71 km. It drains an area of 1780 km². The mean discharge at the Șintereag gauge is 13.4 m³ / s.
