(1763) Williams is a major belt asteroid . It was discovered on October 13, 1953 at the Goethe Link Observatory near Brooklyn (Indiana) as part of the Indiana University's Indiana Asteroid Program .

The asteroid was named Kenneth P. Williams , a British mathematician and author.
