(7231) Porco is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 15 October 1985 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory was discovered.

The asteroid was named on August 8, 1998 after the American planetary researcher Carolyn C. Porco (* 1954).
