Lists on the subject |
The .32 S&W long cartridge is a revolver cartridge developed and used in the USA .
history
The .32 S&W long cartridge was introduced in 1896 together with the first Smith & Wesson revolver with a swing-out drum . The forerunner of the cartridge was the .32 S&W developed in 1878, which has a case length of 15 mm. Both cartridges are comparable in their ballistic performance and .32 S&W ammunition can also be fired from weapons with the .32 S&W long. The Colt company offered weapons for this cartridge with the caliber specification .32 Colt New Police .
The sports pistols Hämmerli 280 , Walther GSP , Pardini HP , Benelli MP 90 S and Benelli MP 95E used in the center fire pistol discipline are also designed for the caliber, but use a wadcutter projectile that does not protrude beyond the case mouth. There the cartridge length corresponds to the case length.
