090208 is a split - EP of post-rock -Bands Long Distance Calling and Leech . It was released on September 26, 2008 via Viva Hate Records .

Origin and background

The two bands got to know each other on February 9, 2008, when Long Distance Calling played as the opening act for Leech at a concert in the Swiss city ​​of Lucerne . A short time later, Leech were signed by Viva Hate Records and the idea of ​​a joint split release came up. The title of the split EP refers to the date of the concert in Lucerne.

Long Distance Calling initially wanted two new songs for 090,208 advertised but decided later that two songs from the demos DMNSTRN that are not for the album Satellite Bay to revise were used. The intermediate piece Intermission was composed by Reimut van Bonn (Long Distance Calling). Leech contributed the song Oktober, written exclusively for the EP , and the song Inspiral from the album The Stolen View .

For Marius Mutz from the online magazine Metal1.info , the EP offers “four great songs that can be heard up and down without becoming less exciting at some point”, but primarily advised “the current albums by both bands, which are quantitatively much more productive ". Alexander Eitner from the online magazine Metalnews.de described 090208 as “an interesting and successful idea to let two bands with a similar mindset come together on a joint release” and awarded six out of seven points. According to Thomas Kohlruß from Babyblauen Seiten , 090208 offers "over 30 minutes of excellent melodic-epic post-rock by two hopeful genre protagonists" and awarded ten out of 15 points.
