Silent Film - Live from Hamburg (A Seats & Sounds Tour) is the first live album of the German post-rock - / post-metal - band long distance calling . It was released on November 1, 2019 via InsideOut Music .

Emergence

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the second studio album Avoid the Light , the band played three special concerts in April 2019, at which the band played in front of a seated audience for the first time. The concerts took place in the Scala Ludwigsburg and the cultural churches in Cologne and Hamburg-Altona . The Hamburg concert was recorded by Florian Steppke and mixed and mastered by Jojo Brunn . Cellist Luca Gilles and percussionist Aaron Schrade can be heard as guest musicians .

The focus of the second half of the concert is the second studio album Avoid the Light , whose tenth anniversary is being celebrated. Apart from the song The Nearing Grave , the album is played in full. The reason for this was that the band only wanted to play the song with the singer Jonas Renkse , but for logistical reasons he could not attend the concert. The band also didn't want Renskse's vocals to be recorded from the tape or taken over by another singer. For this reason the song was "consistently left out" according to Hoffmann.

The albums Satellite Bay , Long Distance Calling and Trips as well as EP 090208 are each represented with one title, while the band performs four titles from their current studio album Boundless . The Flood Inside is the only studio album that is not represented with a title. A new song was also played with Interlude , which according to bassist Jan Hoffmann would be “more of a sketch than a finished song”. The band released the singles Black Paper Planes , On the Verge and Metulsky Curse: Revisited beforehand . The album cover was designed by Martin Großmann.
