Extraction and presentation

1,7-Dibromoheptane can be obtained by reacting 1,7-heptanediol with hydrobromic acid. However, other brominating agents such as phosphorus tribromide , sodium bromide , n-bromosuccinimide (NBS), dimethylbromosulfonium bromide (DMBS) or ionic liquids containing bromine can also be used.
