1,7-Heptanediol is a chemical compound from the group of alkanediols .
Extraction and presentation
1,7-heptanediol, by reduction of pimelic acid ( heptanedioic acid ) in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran or ethanol are recovered.
properties
1,7-heptanediol is a light yellow clear liquid that is soluble in water.
use
1,7-Heptanediol is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of drugs and other chemical compounds. 1,7-dichloroheptane can be prepared by reaction with thionyl chloride . By reaction of 1,7-heptane with hydrobromic can 1,7-dibromoheptane be won.
