The 1st football club Donzdorf 1920 is a sports club from Donzdorf . In addition to the football teams (including youth and senior men ), there has also been a tennis department since 1987 . The greatest sporting success was the promotion to the 1st amateur league in 1967. This was then the third highest division.

history

The association was founded on January 6, 1920. In 1930 the first promotion to the district league took place , but from 1931 the game had to be given up more and more until 1940, later even completely. In 1946 a men's and youth team resumed playing, in 1949 FC Donzdorf rose to the district class , where they reached fifth place in the 1949/50 season and played in the 2nd amateur league by changing the division. The Donzdorfers played there for a full 17 years until they even rose to the first amateur league in 1967, today's Association League Württemberg . The Donzdorfers could only stay there for a year. In 1975 Donzdorf relegated to the then A-class again. Five years later, they were even relegated to the district league A. They stayed there again for five years until they were promoted to the district league Neckar - Fils in 1985 and the state league in 1993/94 . In 2006/07 the club played in the Württemberg Association League, from which, however, they had to relegate in the first season as the penultimate again. In the 2007/08 season, the Donzdorf ruled as association league relegated the state league and rose again as champions. In 2008/09 it went back to the national league with 15th place in the association league. In 2012, he was relegated to the Neckar / Fils district league. In 2015, Donzdorf was allowed to participate in the relegation to the state league as second in the table, but where they failed in the second game.

Girls' football has also been available at FCD since 2013. Shortly after the establishment, the first successes could be recorded. a. the Württemberg indoor championship title for the D-Juniors in the 2015/16 season. This success was repeated in the 2019/20 season. In addition, the D-Juniors were able to win the Württemberg VR Cup in the same season and then became Baden-Württemb. Runner-up. The C-Juniors recorded their greatest success so far in the 2018/19 season, when they first won the Württemberg championship and a week later the South German championship in the Donzdorf Lautertalhalle. They let the youngsters div. Bundesliga clubs, such. B. TSG Hoffenheim behind. This meant qualifying for the German championship in Wuppertal, where the Donzdorf girls sensationally landed third.

The B-Juniors competed in the district league for the first time in the 2017/18 season. In just two years they made it through to the Oberliga BaWü. The team remained unbeaten in the respective field round in the two years and only had to accept a single draw in total.

In the league too, the team immediately took the lead as a newcomer and became autumn champions. The season was then canceled in the spring due to Corona with Donzdorf as leader of the table. In June 2020, 1. FC Donzdorf was declared Oberliga champions and qualified for the Bundesliga South, where they will play in the 20/21 season.

As of July 2020, over 100 women and girls are playing in the various teams.

From the 2019/2020 season, 1. FC Donzdorf started with a women's team in the qualifying relay for the Neckar / Fils district league and was able to qualify for the district league straight away.

On April 10, 2019 1. FC Donzdorf was awarded the Horst Eckel Prize by the Sepp Herberger Foundation in the social work category. The foundation paid tribute to the activities of the girls' department at the end of 2018, when it raised money for a little girl via social media channels. The money was to be used to prevent an amputation of the girl's foot by means of an operation. The health insurance did not want to cover the additional costs of the operation. The fundraising campaign and the surgery ultimately led to the desired success. The Horst Eckel Prize was presented to FC Donzdorf by Horst Eckel, the last surviving World Cup hero from 1954. On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the 54 World Cup, the award ceremony took place at a historic site in the Hotel Belvedere in Spiez (Switzerland).

Stadion

The Lautertal Stadium was built in 1962 and expanded in 1998 by the city of Donzdorf. It holds a total of 3,500 spectators.
