The 1. FC Schwalmstadt is a football club from the north Hessian city Schwalmstadt . It was created in 2003 through the merger of the football departments of ESV Jahn 1871 Treysa and TuSpo Ziegenhain .

founding

On April 3, 2003, the new association was founded in the Hotel and Landgasthof Hof Weidelbach in Schwalmstadt. Heinrich Gringel, Willi Nickel, Bernd Bick, Karl Schmidt, Jochen Helwig and Mayor Wilhelm Kröll were elected as board members. In addition, players from both football departments and the new club were present. A combination of the logo and the coat of arms of the city of Schwalmstadt was chosen as the logo . Because of the rapid, great success of the new "Schwalm" team, the club quickly became very popular.

successes

In the first season after the club was founded, the Schwalmstädter rose to the Oberliga Hessen in 2004 . In 2005, the A youth followed with promotion to the relevant league. In the 2007/08 season , the first team had to accept relegation from the Oberliga, then in 2009, as champions of the Association League North, they were directly promoted to the highest Hessian league, now known as the Hessenliga. After two years, he was relegated again in 2011 .

Stages

The first team plays its home games in the stadium on Fifthweg in Ziegenhain, which has been named after Herbert Battenfeld (1925–2008), long-time chairman and sponsor of TuSpo Ziegenhain, since 2007 . In addition, the club continues to use the Schwalm stadium of ESV Jahn in Treysa.
