1. Köthener Carnival Society 1954
The 1st Köthener Carnival Society KUKAKÖ 1954 e. V. is a carnival club in Köthen (Anhalt) . The association was founded in the 1950s, but political conflicts with the SED district leadership brought the association's activities to a standstill. It was only re-established after the reunification in the GDR.
In recent history, the Koethen Rose Monday Parade is the largest Rose Monday parade in East Germany. It has been broadcast live on MDR television since 1999 .

On March 2, 1954, a Rose Monday procession was held for the first time in Koethen. The events of the following years were so successful that the SED district leadership became aware of them. According to the association's own statements, the financial independence of the association should be endangered with fiscal reprisals. The result was that the Carnival Association held its last parade in 1959 and disbanded, many members of the Elferrat went to the West .
In 1992, the tradition of was the Monday train and the first Köthener Karnevalsgesellschaft KUKAKÖ 1954 e. V. officially revived and started with a new line-up. In addition, the association has organized the Köthener Kuhfest every summer since 1993 , during which concerts and dance events take place.
The largest Rose Monday procession to date was held in 2010. 43 carnival clubs registered that year. The procession consisted of no less than 3,000 participants, 77 floats, 16 convertibles, a carriage and 72 running groups, including six music groups.
The association counts among its honorary members Heinz Quermann , Ewald Gast and Hans Menzel and with around 300 members it is the carnival association with the largest number of members in Saxony-Anhalt.
The official battle cry is "KU KA KÖ" (Kuh Kaff Köthen).
KUKAKÖ - Cross of Merit
The KUKAKÖ - Cross of Merit, is the highest award that the board of directors of the 1. Köthener Karnevalsgesellschaft 1954 e. V. awards. There is this award as a merit cross, merit cross with a star and as a merit cross with a large star.
