2-methyladenosine (m 2 A) is a rare nucleoside and occurs in tRNA and rRNA . It consists of β- D- ribofuranose (sugar) and 2-methyladenine . It is a derivative of adenosine which is methylated in the 2-position . It was first isolated in 1972. It is located at position 38 of the tRNA Arg .
