2000 Malibu Road is the title of a US television series from the 1990s directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Columbia Broadcasting System .

The first episode aired in the United States on August 23, 1992.

action

The series is about Jade O'Keeffe, a former prostitute who wants to leave her old life behind and takes in three women to pay the rent of her beach house in Malibu : lawyer Perry Quinn, aspiring actress Lindsay Rule and their evil sister Joy Rule.

The plot mainly deals with O'Keeffe's dubious past and her arrest as a suspected murderer. Quinn tries to prove her innocence while she is busy with her old ex-boyfriend Roger Tabor. She tries to exonerate him because he is on trial for rape, in the last episode it is revealed that he was rightly charged. The third story arc is about the sisters Lindsay and Joy Rule. Joy Rule's jealousy of her successful sister, who falls in love with a producer's son, leads to far-reaching intrigues.

Others

A total of six episodes were shot, which were actually planned as a test run for a long-running series. Audience ratings were very high and 2000 Malibu Road was the second most popular series of the season when it aired. For corporate policy reasons, the series was discontinued. In an interview, Lisa Hartman gives the reason for the cancellation that Aaron Spelling was producing a second television series at the same time with Melrose Place . Spelling found himself in a bind and ultimately dropped 2000 Malibu Road so as not to weaken Melrose Place.

When the series was canceled, it remained unfinished for the American audience - all the storylines were suddenly cut off after the cliffhanger of the last episode was canceled. Since the television series was very well received in Europe, a closed ending was produced for the European broadcast. In the final sequence of the last episode, Jade O'Keeffe (Lisa Hartman) reports what has become of the main characters of the series.
