2А36 aka "Hyacinth-B" is a Soviet 152 mm cannon. The 2A36 cannon was developed to combat soldiers and armored vehicles from a great distance and can be used in various climatic and meteorological conditions.

history

The development of the 2A36 cannon began in November 1968 in the design department of the Perm Engineering Factory with the aim of increasing the firing range. Even in the project stage, this cannon was designed in two versions, the rifled version (with the internal designation "Hyzinth-B") and under the designation 2A37 on the 2S5 self-propelled gun .

The chief designer was Yuri Kalachnikov. The first prototypes went through field tests in 1971 and 1972 until the cannon was finally included in the equipment of the Soviet Army in 1976 .

The 2A36 cannon fulfilled the specified requirement for high firepower, reliability and mobility (transportability by land, water or air) and can take on tasks in the context of mixed army units. According to artillery experts, the towed version of the 2A36 has the greatest possible firing range of up to 40 km (with "rocket-assisted projectile") of all 152 mm artillery systems adopted by the army in the Soviet Union and Russia from the middle of the 20th century -Shot). The range is only exceeded by the 203 mm cannon on the 2S7 self-propelled gun with a maximum of 47.5 km with rocket-assisted projectile projectiles.

description

The 2A36 cannon is equipped with a semi-automatic breech, a hydropneumatic braking and recovery device, a loading mechanism with hydraulic rammer (for firing in the raised position of the cannon) and an adjustable height adjustment with two speeds for vertical target acquisition. The mount consists of two axles with suspension.

Dimensions

The length of the 2A36 cannons varies between 12,920 mm in the drawn and 12,300 mm in the combat-ready position. The height (caused by the barrel) is 2760 mm in the pulled position, the ground clearance is 475 mm, the width on the road is 2340 mm, the diameter of a wheel is 1080 mm, the wheel width is 300 mm, the spring travel is 150 mm.

The 2A46 cannon can be pulled by the following military vehicles, among others; KrAZ-255B , KrAZ-260 (with the axle formula 6 × 6) or tracked towing vehicles of the artillery AT-T , АТС, ATS-59 or MT-Т. A fairly high pulling speed is allowed.
