history

The row of buildings was built between 1849 and 1857 on the site of the former stately home of Stobcross . The Scottish architect Alexander Kirkland is responsible for the design . In addition, gardens with a small lake were created, but these were built over until the 1930s.

The entrance doors are accessible via short front stairs. They are designed with mullion windows , architraves and flanking Doric pilasters . The central and outer buildings have simple Doric portico . The windows on the first floor are simply crowned. A window cornice runs underneath . The facade closes with a frieze , cornice and stone balustrade .
