3 dev adam , also known under the title 3 Mighty Men , is a Turkish fantasy / action film from 1973. The film shows the superhero Spider-Man in the role of a villain and was shot without permission from the rights holder Marvel Comics .

action

Spider-Man terrorizes Istanbul by stealing works of art and brutally murdering their owners. Since the Turkish police are unable to get over the culprit, they ask two superheroes for support: Captain America and the Mexican wonder wrestler Santo . Together, the two heroes manage to bring down the malicious Spider-Man after a myriad of fights.

meaning

Like many cheaply produced Turkish B-films of the 1970s and 1980s, 3 dev adam is very free to handle copyrighted content. The production company did not have permits or licenses from the rights holders for any of the three superhero characters depicted. In view of the strange handling of the characters, it also seems questionable whether the use of the characters would ever have been permitted: Spider-Man became a dangerous violent criminal who murders brutally and for no reason (even before the opening credits he leaves one in the sand up to the head to shred the buried woman with a propeller without the viewer ever knowing the reason). Captain America and Santo wear their superhero costumes only occasionally and spend most of the action unmasked; they do not have any recognizable superpowers. Her only outstanding ability is successfully fighting chaotic brawls.

The entire staging of the film is also chaotic and confused, making it difficult in places to see who is doing what and why. In addition, there is an ubiquitous extreme cheapness (a supposedly elegant Istanbul nightclub is symbolically represented by three rather inelegant tables, a shelf full of bottles and a hobby cellar bar ). It is also worth mentioning that the film music was apparently taken from other films without exception, including the James Bond series.

criticism

“'3 Mighty Men' is pure trash. Not a minute of film should really be taken seriously; every single scene in its simple-minded infantility is a feast for those who can still have fun on a really, really bad film. "
