The M1919 cannon in 16 inch (406 mm) caliber was an American long cannon.

The heavy M1919 guns were originally developed as guns for new battleships after the end of the First World War . The Washington fleet treaty of 1922 prevented their use. The finished gun barrels were mounted . According to a decision of the Congress , they should be used as coastal batteries . Due to the global economic crisis , only the ports of Pearl Harbor , San Diego and New York could be secured accordingly.
