4 Reeves (Four Reeves) was a band in the 1990s, which consisted of the siblings Shary , Jim († 2016), Andrew and Terry Reeves from Cologne . After Jim Reeves left, the band was renamed D'Reeves .

Band history

At the beginning of the 1990s, the four siblings appeared publicly for the first time as the dance formation 4 Reeves and got to know the producer team Franz Plasa and Peter Hoffmann (Hopla Productions) through an agency . Although the English-language singles Party and Jumpin 'achieved notable successes in the German dance charts , the siblings decided to continue writing and singing in German after a performance in Cologne , where they performed in front of 100,000 spectators at the ass-huh concert on Chlodwigplatz . After separating from the production team, Andrew Reeves took care of the music from then on. They were the first band ever to present Kölsch Rap. The 4 Reeves belonged to the group Die Fantastischen Vier as one of the first German hip-hop , soul and R&B bands in the early 1990s . As one of the first German rap formations, they received a “major deal” alongside the Stuttgart band and, having already had a major contract with Warner Brothers ' label East / West in 1991 , were signed by Chlodwig Musik ( BMG Ariola ) taken.

In 1993 Mola Adebisi supported the group as a guest rapper during their live performances. In the media, Adebisi was presented as a "cousin" even though he was not part of the family. In 1994 4 Reeves could be heard together with the German national soccer team on the record Everybody's Going to the USA . They also presented the song on May 28, 1994 at the 88th Wetten, dass ..? Broadcast in Hanover.

In 1995 Jim Reeves left the formation in favor of his solo career, which meant that 4 Reeves were renamed D'Reeves from now on. In 1996 the last single was released, Mein Masseur .

In 2012, Shary, Andrew and Terry Reeves appeared without Jim as D'Reeves at the remake of the ass-huh-concert and released the new song We don't give up .

On February 1, 2016, Jim Reeves was found dead in a hostel in Berlin. According to the autopsy result, the cause of death was blunt violence against the head and upper body.
