6:33 is a French progressive and avant-garde metal band from Paris that was founded in 2010.
history
The band was formed in 2010, after which the debut album Orphans of Good Manners was released the following year via M & O Music . Arno Strobl can be heard as a guest singer on some of the songs, as the original singer Kinky Zombie had left the group. Strobl is also featured as a singer on the 2012 EP Giggles, Garlands and Gallows . The EP came out as a download and after a few months had been downloaded about 2,500 times. The group then went on tour, opening up for Devin Townsend and Shaka Ponk . This was followed in 2013 with The Stench from the Swelling (A True Story) via Wafflegate Productions, the next album. Both Strobl and the new singer Rorschach can be heard on this. Strobl then left the cast. In 2015 the album Deadly Scenes followed on Kaotoxin Records , on which Rorschach took over the vocals alone. In 2016 the band could be seen at ProgPower Europe . Live the group appears masked.
style
Stephan Möller of Metal.de wrote in his review of Orphans of Good Manners that it contains modern metal that moves between metalcore and nu metal , but also offers electro and progressive elements as well as excursions into synth-pop and power metal . The album can be divided into two halves: the first, which is very metal-heavy and offers hardly any electro elements except for the drum computer , and the second, which contains more electro, elements from other genres and less metal. Nils Macher from Powermetal.de said in his review of The Stench from the Swelling (A True Story) that some people could describe the music on the album as progressive metal, others as crossover , the group itself gave it the name "Strange Music" . Macher summarized the music as a “contemporary FAITH NO MORE adaptation made by the DEVIN TOWNSEND wolf” and felt reminded of the Canadian group Unexpect . On the album the group makes music "detached from genre conventions or expectations". Daniel Cordova from metalinjection.net described the music of Deadly Scenes as avant-garde metal , and when he heard the songs, groups like Unexpect, Mr. Bungle , Dog Fashion Disco and Devin Townsend Project would come to mind. Occasionally he was also reminded of Nine Inch Nails and Leprous . The band succeeds in not sounding like a copy, but unique and "crazy". In addition, various genres such as swing , industrial or black metal are incorporated into the songs.
