The 7th Jäger Battalion was an association of the Bavarian Army . The last place of peace for the hunters was Landsberg am Lech .

history

The battalion was set up on December 21, 1863 from units and sub-units of several existing Bavarian hunter battalions and infantry regiments.

In the war against Prussia in 1866 it was subordinate to the 3rd Brigade (Major General Schuhmacher) of the 2nd Division (Lieutenant General von Feder) and fought on July 10, 1866 near Kissingen , where the battalion commander Major Philipp Graf von Ysenburg-Philippseich fell.

During the Franco-Prussian War , the battalion took part in the Battle of Sedan . It was involved in the Battle of Coulmiers . From December 27, 1870 to January 28, 1871, the battalion was incorporated in the siege ring around Paris and remained as part of the occupation army in France until July 16, 1873 after the end of the war.

The battalion was added to the 16th Infantry Regiment on October 1, 1878 as the 2nd Battalion .
