9th Royal Bavarian Jäger Battalion

The 9th Jäger Battalion was an association of the Bavarian Army . The last peace location of the battalion was Passau .

history

The battalion was formed on July 1, 1868 from units and sub-units of the 1st , 2nd , 8th and 11th Infantry Regiments .

During the Franco-Prussian War , the battalion took part in the battles at Wörth and Sedan . It was u. a. involved in the battles at Coulmiers , Loigny and Poupry and Beaugency . From a combat strength of 22 officers, 60 NCOs and 847 fighters at the beginning of the war, the battalion had only 10 officers and 303 NCOs and fighters after the Battle of Beaugency.

The battalion was on October 1, 1878 as III. Battalion assigned to the 16th Infantry Regiment .
