4th Royal Bavarian Jäger Battalion
The 4th Jäger Battalion was an association of the Bavarian Army .
history
The battalion was formed on December 1, 1825 by King Ludwig I in Ingolstadt from the II battalion of the 16th Line Infantry Regiment. The hunters were subordinate to the 2nd Infantry Brigade . On January 1, 1851, the 1st, 5th and parts of the 7th Company gave up to form the 6th Jäger Battalion . These companies were then reorganized. The battalion was last stationed in Landshut .
German war
In the war against Prussia in 1866, the hunters fought on June 27, 1866 near Roßbrunn .
Franco-German War
During the war against France in 1870/71, the battalion took part in the 1st Division under Lieutenant General Baptist von Stephan in the battles at Wörth , Sedan , Coulmiers , Loigny and Poupry , Orléans and Beaugency, and the battle at Beaumont . In the heavy fighting in November and December 1870, the battalion melted down to a third of the combat strength at the beginning of the war. From December 27, 1870, the battalion took part in the enclosure and siege of Paris .
Whereabouts
The association was founded on October 1, 1890 as III. Battalion integrated into the 19th Infantry Regiment .
