The 7107 Islands Cruise was originally a Mediterranean ferry that was converted into a cruise ship in 1989 . The ship had several names due to changes in ownership and charter agreements . Her first name was Vicente Puchol , named after Vincente Puchol Montis, who was Bishop of Santander from 1965 to 1967 .

history

The ship was built as the Mediterranean ferry Vincente Puchol by Unión Naval de Levante in Valencia ( Spain ) for Compañía Transmediterránea , to which it was delivered on January 8, 1969. She was the sister ship of Antonio Lazaro and was used like this in the ferry line service. However, the Vincente Puchol was too small after a few years and was advertised for sale in 1983. The ship continued to operate at Transmediterránea until 1985. The Cypriot Sol Lines entered negotiations in 1985, but resigned shortly before the contract was signed.

In 1987 it was sold to Attica Shipping , Piraeus and renamed Arkadia (Greek spelling). Two years later, it was converted into a cruise ship for 256 passengers and renamed Arcadia (English spelling). Shortly afterwards, the Arcadia was chartered by StarLauro Cruises , who renamed the ship Angelina Lauro and used it for cruises from Venice in the Adriatic and Aegean until 1991 . The same shipping company operated the Achille Lauro, kidnapped in 1985 .

From 1991 the ship, again under the old name Arcadia , was operated by Attika Shipping in the Aegean Sea. From 1997 to 2002 the operation took place under the jointly operated by Attika Shipping and Dolphin Hellas Shipping Golden Sun Cruises . After that, the ship, renamed Caribic Star , was operated by Anaconda Maritime until 2005 . Under the new name Coco Explorer 2 , the ship was operated by C&C Marine from Copenhagen until 2006 , then by Inluck International Cruises until 2008 .

In 2008 the ship was taken over by 7107 Islands Travel , renamed 7107 Islands Cruise and used in the Philippines . In June 2009 the ship was confiscated in the port of Manila by the Philippine customs and tax authorities on the grounds that import duties and taxes had not been paid.
