The 79th Missile Regiment (Russian 79-й гвардейский ракетный Севастопольский Краснознамённый полк ) was a missile regiment of the 29th Missile Division of the 50th Missile Army of the Soviet Missile Army .

history

The regiment as military unit No. 18278 of the Soviet Army was formed in September / December 1958 in the city of Uman in the Cherkasy region . The seat of the 79th Missile Regiment was in Plungė ( Lithuania ) until 1979.

In 1962 it took part in Operation Anadyr .

From August 21, 1978, the 79th Missile Regiment of the 8th Missile Division of the 27th Missile Army of the Strategic Missile Forces (RWSN) of the Russian Armed Forces was handed over.

In 1993 the 8th Missile Division, which also included the 79th Sevastopol Missile Regiment , was transferred to the 31st Missile Army. The staff was in the city of Orenburg . The unit was in Jurja , Kirov Oblast , Russia .

It was dissolved on December 1, 2004.
