Aʻa (also: Ava ) is an uninhabited island in the Tongan archipelago of Vavaʻu .
geography
Aʻa lies together with ʻOto in a bay that is formed by the islands of Kapa and Nuapapu , a region in the center of Vavaʻu. The islets of Lua'ofa , Nuku and Luakapa are also in the vicinity . The island itself has a regular oval plan and is densely forested. To the east, on the opposite coast from Kapa, lies the town of Falevai .
climate
The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands of the Vavaʻu group, Aʻa is occasionally afflicted by cyclones .
