Arthur Juan "AJ" Brown (born June 30, 1997 in Starkville , Mississippi ) is an American American football player on the position of wide receiver . He played college football for the University of Mississippi . Since 2019 he has been under contract with the Tennessee Titans in the National Football League (NFL).
Early years
Brown was born in Starkville , Mississippi , and attended high school there. In his high school days, he scored 2,883 yards of space and 35 touchdowns , and he won the 2015 Mississippi State Championship with the Starkville Yellowjackets . In addition to football, Brown also played successful high school baseball as an outfielder . He was the second player after Kyler Murray to participate in both the All-Star High School game for American football and baseball.
college
Brown played college football from 2016 to 2018 . He attended the University of Mississippi and played there for the Ole Miss Rebels in the NCAA Division I FBS. In the 19th round of the 2016 MLB Draft , Brown was selected and signed by the San Diego Padres . His contract meant that he could no longer play baseball in college, but could still play football. For the Padres, however, Brown was barely active as he focused on his football career, and only completed a few training sessions.
In 2017, Brown was awarded the Conerly Trophy for best college football player in Mississippi. That year and the following year, Brown was elected to the Southeastern Conference All-Star Team . He set the records for most passes caught in a season (85) and most receiving yards at his college.
Brown caught a total of 189 passes for 2984 yards and 19 touchdowns at college. On December 4, 2018, he announced that he would be giving up a possible fourth year of college and signing up for the 2019 NFL Draft .
NFL
Brown was selected 51st by the Tennessee Titans in the 2nd round in the 2019 NFL Draft .
On his NFL debut in Week 1 of the 2019 season against the Cleveland Browns , he caught three passes that gave him 100 yards of space. Brown caught his first two touchdown passes in the NFL in a 24-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Matchday four. After three games with over 100 receiving yards, Brown was named Offensive Rookie of the Month for December. With a total of 1051 yards of space gained by trapped passes, Brown was the best rookie of the season in this statistic.
