MLB Draft 2016
The 2016 MLB Draft , the Entry Draft of Major League Baseball , took place June 9-11, 2016. The draft order was opposite to the rankings of the 2015 MLB season , so that the worst team of the previous year, the Philadelphia Phillies , had the first choice (pick). The Phillies chose outfielder Mickey Moniak, who was born in Encinitas in 1998.
The current champions Kansas City Royals did not have a pick in the first round because he signed Ian Kennedy and only intervened in 67th place in the draft.
