The A284 is a Class I road established in 1923 between Littlehampton and the A29 west of Houghton. It is divided in two by the A27. The northern part branched off from the A27 in Arundel at 'Arundel Castle'. Today it goes around Arundel to the west and meets the A27, which goes around Arundel to the south.
